He has provided the design and print for race team t shirts & mugs. There is nothing he cannot do!
Mr. Nicholson started the Light Em Up.TV brand in January 2021. Photographing & attending some small local car meets and frequently attending the last few years of the Westshore Speed Way formally known as the Western Speedway. Mike started to gain popularity from his outgoing personality, quickly gaining recognition in the local car & motorsports community.
Mr. Nicholson started to network in the city, going on car cruises and meeting various local car clubs. One of the clubs was the lowrider LayedOut Car Club in Victoria. Mike took an interest with the clubs comradery and of course photographing, filming these beautiful pieces of art. Michael quickly became friends with Phil Chra ( The Club president) & Zack Mazelli ( The Clubs Vice President) and from there started a great networking relationship.
The rest of 2021 & going into 2022 Michael was busy continuing to network, promoting his brand, photographing cruises, filming local car meets and started to attend some of the local car shows. Early 2022 is when Phil Chra the President of LayedOut Car club reached out and wanted Light Em Up.TV to take part in helping start the Field of Dreams Car Show at Juan De Fuca Rec Center in Colwood. This was the beginning of one of the largest Car shows ever to hit Vancouver Island. In the Field of Dreams 1st Annual show, just over 400 cars and thousands of people attended. The Field of Dreams car show boosted the local lowriders Car Club fan base as well as the Light Em'Up.TV Brand. Both the car club and Michael's Light Em UP.TV's brand gained more recognition from the exposure to our local communities, local radio and news stations.
In the early Season May 2023 continuing the momentum, Light Em'Up.TV hosted his very 1st car meet at the YMCA in Langford. It was a record breaking car meet, with one the largest the city has seen with over 350 vehicles and 1000+ people in attendance. Michael then hosted another massive Summer Meet at the YMCA in July with now over 400+ vehicles in attendance. This event rippled all the way up to the Westhills Land development Corporation management team where it made Victoria News.
August 2023 - The 2nd Annual LayedOut Car Club Field of Dreams Car Show Co Hosted By Light EmUp.TV was another HUGE success bringing in just over 600 vehicles in attendance. Some of these vehicles included some well known Lowrider Clubs from Vancouver & Mainland BC. Again, both the LayedOut Club name and Light EmUp.TV name grew even larger in popularity. Both the LayedOut and Light EmUp.TV brand started to become the most recognized names in the car community on the South Island.
End of Summer Sept 1st 2023, Quickly out growing the massive 350 spot parking lot at the YMCA, Michael decided to host a meet at the old Rev Scene across from Uptown Mall in Victoria. This was a reputable location having car meets dating as far back as early 2000's with even Damon from Daily Driven Exotics frequenting this location when he lived in Victoria. This lot was capable of holding just over 500 vehicles with room to spare. Mike's last Season End meet of 2023 was another huge success with again, just over 400 vehicles in attendance. With all the recognition, all the videos, photos and content gathered from not only Michael's events but The Field of Dreams, local cruises and local car shows, his social media platforms quickly grew to thousands of followers, hundreds of thousands of video views going into the 2024 season.
2024 was going to be one for the record books! The Island car community was buzzing and looking forward to the 2024 season! Michael started to promote his Season Opener event, again, at the old Rev Scene across from Uptown Mall in Victoria. The Season ender meet in 2023 went so smooth without any issues that Mike decided to have it at the Rev scene once again. The weather unfortunately didn't cooperate and the event was postponed from the initial date until 1 week later. The heavily anticipated meet was MASSIVE! A little too successful, the lot, the surrounding streets, around the block down the main roads, cars lined up down the highway causing a huge traffic grid lock. It was an INCREDIBLE turnout with well over 500 cars in attendance and thousands of people from all over the Island as far north as Campbell River, Vancouver mainland and even Washington State. Unfortunately the turn out was so large that the police had to intervene as the traffic was too backed up and the few businesses that were open couldn't operate effectively. Light Em'Up.TV had officially out grown the Rev Scene.
Fast track to early summer 2024. Michael was weighing his options for larger venues to continue to host his large events. Mayfair mall in Victoria was on his radar. Michael contacted Mayfair mall administration and was able to secure a meeting with the Marketing Coordinator. Michael successfully made a deal with the management team and was able to gain access top the mall rooftop for a 2024 Summer Meet! The roof top of Mayfair Mall had tons of space that could easily fit over 700 vehicles. Excited with this new venue, Michael began to plan for his 2024 Summer event. For the 1st time since hosting any events, Mayfair required a 5 million liability insurance and signed contracts to have the event take place. Every T was crossed and I was dotted. The Event went without any issues. The Mayfair Mall management team were very happy how successful the event was and how it all turned out. Michael then started planning his 2024 season End event. A few minor time changes, and day change the event was to be held this time on a Sunday throughout the day. Light Em Up.TV was preparing to have his 2024 Season End car meet turn into his very 1st contracted car show!
All in the meantime Mike was helping set up the 2024 3rd annual Field of Dreams Car show along side LayedOut Car Club for Aug 11th. The show was a HUGE success and the biggest show yet with just over 700 cars in attendance.
Mayfair Mall's Admin team and Michael went back & forth on an official date for the Season End Car show. With only 3 weeks to prepare, promote, advertise, and out together a visual creatives package, Mayfair asked Michael if he could get a few special vehicles in the mall to help advertise the upcoming show. The 5 vehicles were carefully selected to showcase inside the mall to help advertise the upcoming Season End Car show. Sunday Sept 15th 2024, Light Em'Up.TV was going to have his very 1st headlined car show. With car Registration by donation, trophies, vendors, kids activities, kids power wheels competition, music, the Mall allowing the attendees to utilize the mall's amenities and food court, the Car Show was a HUGE success! Michael, the attendees and the community were able to raise $3650 for the local help Fill a Dream Foundation. What an incredible end to the 2024 car Season.
With 2025 right around the corner, Michael has BIG plans. Now 4 years later with over 40,000 followers, millions of video views on all his social media platforms combined. He is the man behind the lens taking videos, photos, editing, posting and exposing our Islands beautiful machines on wheels to the world!
